May 15, 1915 — The Danish steamer “Martha” is torpedoed and sunk in the North Sea by a German submarine.

May 15, 1990 — Child care will be expanded to Indian Trail and Crichfield elementary schools beginning in the 1990-91 school year.
May 15, 2005 — On the LaPorte business front, American Signature and American Licorice have opened; Whirlpool, Modine and Berkel have closed; and Aero Metals, American Renolit and Casting Service have taken steps to boost employment levels and fund new equipment.
