Thanks to a recent promotion at LaPorte County’s six McDonald’s restaurants, the Youth Service Bureau Big Brothers Big Sisters of LaPorte County has received $1,000.

Sam Lubeznik, owner of the local restaurants, recently presented the check to YSB Executive Director Steve Bernth.

The funds were raised through a promotion conducted on April 2: For every customer who tried one of McDonald’s new fresh baked muffins, $1 was donated to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program.

“We are very grateful that Sam and McDonald’s came up with another great idea to raise funds for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program,” Bernth said. “Not only did it give us a chance to raise some much-needed dollars, but it also gave us a unique opportunity to talk to the general public and promote the program.”

“I am a big supporter of youth mentoring programs,” said Lubeznik.  “We really feel like this is a win-win opportunity for McDonald’s and Big Brothers Big Sisters. We get to promote a new product and raise funds for a worthy cause at the same time.”

Youth Service Bureau Big Brothers Big Sisters currently has about 80 kids matched in LaPorte County, but more volunteers are needed.  For information about becoming a mentor, visit www.youthservicebureau.com, email bbbs@csinet.net or call 219-362-9587.
