June 24, 1913 – The cornerstone for the new temple for the LaPorte Masonry, to be known as the Masonic Temple, is laid with pomp and ceremony.

June 24, 1963 – President Kennedy declares it is essential that a nuclear test ban be concluded this year.

June 24, 1988 – Richard Friend, former councilman who ran for mayor in 1987, dies of cancer.

June 24, 2003 — LaPorte County officials decide to pay Dr. Peter Kesling $1.2 million for the Door Prairie Auto Museum building so that the facility can become the new home of the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum. The museum, currently housed in the LaPorte County Complex, will also showcase some of Kesling’s vintage auto collection.
