The LaPorte County Historical Society Museum’s new display, “The Finishing Touch,” features ladies’ accessories and will be on exhibit for the entire summer.
Shoes, gloves, jewelry and all the fixings will be featured in the display. From the 1920s through the
1970s, such accessories had much more importance to ladies’ everyday lives than at the present time. Shoes and handbags must match! Never leave the house without your gloves! Pearls: real or fake? These were all decisions that had to be made before the well-dressed lady went out the front door.
Museum intern Rachel Tavaras explored the historical society’s vast collection of accessories to prepare the exhibit. Items on display will be featured in the Period Rooms and Meeting Room on the first level, and in Exhibit Hall on the lower level.
