Members of  Girl Scout Troop 00278, based in Kingsford Heights, stopped by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office on June 10, 2015, to deliver some precious gifts: teddy bears.

Teddy bears are used by deputies during traumatic incidents, such as vehicle crashes, to help calm children. The Scouts purchased the teddy bears from the local Goodwill store.

Sheriff John Boyd greeted the troop in his office and thanked them for their generous donation. As a reward for their willingness to help others in a time of need, each troop member was awarded a Junior Deputy Sheriff Badge. The girls also took a tour of the sheriff’s department and the LaPorte County 911 Center.
