A chase in rural LaPorte County on June 30, 2015, ended when the driver of the stolen car in the chase
was apprehended at Waverly Road and Garden Street in LaPorte.
LaPorte Police said they were asked by Indiana State Police to assist with locating a Michigan City man who fled after they tried to stop him for a traffic violation in Trail Creek at about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Ian L. Rawls, 27, led police on a chase in which he spun out in the 2005 Ford Crown Victoria he was driving and struck the fence of a communication tower on CR 500 N. Rawls ran into a nearby cornfield.
Two female passengers remained with the vehicle. One, Jennifer L. Krueger, 29, of LaPorte, was arrested on charges of Interference and Providing False Identification, both misdemeanors. The other female, 37, was cooperative and was not charged.
At about 5:55 a.m. June 30, a LaPorte Police officer spotted Rawls walking in the vicinity of Waverly and Garden. He was taken into custody without incident. Rawls was wanted on an existing warrant for Receiving Stolen Auto Parts, a Level 6 felony.
The 2005 Ford Crown Victoria in the chase was reported stolen from Westville on June 30.
Additional charges are expected.
