Mr. Charles R. Jarrett Sr., 80, of LaPorte, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Feb. 22, 1936, in Emery, Arkansas, to Elmer and Chloe (McCloud) Jarrett.
Charles retired from Howmet Corp. in 1999 after having worked there for 22 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the LaPorte American Legion, PNA and PRCU.
On May 13, 1978, in Kingsford Heights, IN, he married Evelyn M. Jarrett, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Christine Renee Jarrett and Carol (Tony) Lopez; five sons, Charles Ray Jarrett Jr., William Austin Jarrett, Bobby Allen (Julaine) Jarrett, Jerry Dwayne (Darlene) Jarrett and David Martin; and 19 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by four brothers, Laverne Jarrett, Darrell Jarrett, Clifford Jarrett and Harold Jarrett.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Saturday, Dec. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A life celebration will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte.
