Visitors to the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum for the month of December 2016 came from 12 counties, 14 states, South Africa and Spain. Sixty-two third graders from Handley School toured the museum. Santa visited on Dec. 3 and carolers from LaPorte Little Theatre entertained. The Christmas theme, “Season’s Greetings!” which highlighted the Historical Society’s Christmas card collection, was well received. County Historian Fern Eddy Schultz presented a program on Prominent People of LaPorte County: The Rest of the Story.

Over the next few months the museum staff will be working on a new permanent display highlighting LaPorte County schools. On display from the middle of January until the end of February will be the vast collection of antique Valentines.
Use the winter months to come and work on your family tree in the museum’s research library. Only $15 for an individual membership in the society gets you free admission for a year.
