Jan. 14, 1917 — Interests that are opposed to woman suffrage and prohibition are preparing fake bills to fool legislators and as many people as possible.
Jan. 14, 1967 — Who says LaPorte isn’t on the move? The fairgrounds were moved to erect a new LaPorte High School. The post office was moved west of the central business district. The Masonic Temple is now the telephone company. Now comes the hospital plan.
Jan. 14, 1992 — Dorothy Rowley, 86, retires from her post as official LaPorte County historian.
Jan. 14, 2007 — Mary McDermott is elected unanimously as LaPorte School Board president. The position of vice president goes to Sue Szilagyi and that of secretary to Ketra Bolster.
