Howard G. Freeland, 88, of LaPorte, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017.
He was born Feb. 18, 1928, in LaPorte to Fred and Ella (Batzloff) Freeland.
Howard retired from Allis-Chalmers Company after 38 1/2 years as a Lead Man on the assembly line and was previously employed as a Security Guard with Pinkerton Security at Modine Manufacturing. He was a former member of Moose Lodge 925 and enjoyed crafts and woodworking. He had attended St. John Lutheran Church.
On May 2, 1953, in LaPorte, he married Florence E. Zirzow, who preceded him in death on April 7, 2007.
Howard was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Florence Freeland, Esther Lombard and Bernice Moore; brother, Fredrick Freeland; and a special sister-in-law, Ruth Poyer.
He is survived by his son, Howard W. (Teresa Seifert) Freeland of Michigan City, IN; grandson, Cole Seifert; three nieces and one nephew; and niece, Stephanie Poyer of LaPorte.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte.
