Here’s a press release issued July 3, 2013, by the LaPorte Police Department:
The LaPorte City Police Department is excited to announce that through the generous support of the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office and Mayor Blair Milo, it will be adding a K9 unit to the department.
Spl. Matt Drangmeister was chosen by a department board from a great group of candidates to lead this program. He will attend training with his new K9 partner in late September and will then be ready for patrol.
The LaPorte City Police Department is delighted to bring this program back to life to give us another tool in the fight against drugs in our city.
Spl. Drangmeister will introduce his partner to the community when he returns from training, as he will not meet him/her until their training begins.
