July 5, 1913 – The body of a boy who drowned in Pine Lake has yet to be recovered.
July 5, 1963 – The Jaycees presented a 40-minute display of $1,200 worth of fireworks in the holiday celebration that also included a wild animal show, animal races and a carnival.
July 5, 1988 — The former Door Village School has been demolished.
July 5, 2003 – The LaPorte Jaycees Fourth of July Parade, which featured 126 entries, followed a flyover by two jets.
