Rev. Robert Dean Hoffman, 73, of LaPorte, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
He was born July 2, 1940, in Murdock, IL, to Richard Paul and Beulah (Coslet) Hoffman.
Dean worked at the University of Illinois for over 30 years. He was an ordained minister with United Pentecostal Church International for 43 years. He pastored several churches during his ministerial career, most recently serving as senior care minister at First Apostolic Church of LaPorte. Dean loved the gospel, his family and especially his wife of almost 53 years, Jane.
On Oct. 30, 1960, in Mattoon, IL, he married Jane Hays, who survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Deanette Richhart of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA; one son, Rev. Richard (Tara) Hoffman of LaPorte; four grandchildren, Casey and Matthew Thompson of Twenty-Nine Palms and Coburn and Cherith Hoffman of LaPorte; three brothers, John Hoffman of Villa Grove, IL, Donald (Dee Ann) Hoffman of Pesotum, IL, and Kevin (Leisa) Hoffman of Camargo, IL; two sisters, Karen (Tom) Felkner of Villa Grove, IL, and Sandy (Steve) Williams of Tolono, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
A Going Home Service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 7, at First Apostolic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Robert Russell III of Pana, IL, officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, July 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Rev. Hoffman’s honor to First Apostolic Church, 1930 Boyd Blvd., LaPorte, IN 46350.
