Lynne Ann Gilliland, 66, of LaPorte, died unexpectedly at 2 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at her home.
She was born May 9, 1947, in LaPorte to Paul and Esther (Rosenau) Lehker and lived her entire life in the LaPorte area.
Lynne worked at Blue Chip Casino for 12 years and retired as floor supervisor. She previously worked as a driver for LaPorte TransPorte. Lynne cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them, as well as traveling and camping. She was a former 4-H leader and enjoyed horses, gardening, cooking, reading, word games, and nature.
On June 26, 1971, in Michigan City, IN, she married Steven G. Gilliland, who survives.
She also leaves behind one daughter, Stephanie (Adam) Smith of LaPorte; two sons, David (Meghan) Gilliland of LaPorte and Brad (Melissa) Moore of Winter Park, FL; six grandchildren, Parker, Giovanna, Lauren, Grant, Brynnley, and Faith; one brother, Gaelen (Beth) Lehker of LaPorte; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to LaPorte County 4-H, Purdue Extension, 2857 W. Ind. 2, LaPorte, IN 46350.
