Wednesday: Dr. Groovy and the Soul Surgeons
Well known locally for its fun, versatility and dedication to worthy events, Dr. Groovy and the Soul Surgeons is a not-for-profit rock-and-roll band with a mission to provide entertainment for charitable causes. Always prolific in its repertoire, the band is available for events requiring an infusion of rock and roll. They play a wide variety of music, everything from the Beatles to Linda Ronstadt, from Chicago to Earth Wind and Fire, from Wilson Pickett to Motown.
Thursday: Windiana
Windiana, a professional-level concert band based in Valparaiso, performs concert band literature at the highest level possible. Its members have studied with some of the most notable musicians in America, and are recognized for their performing and teaching.
Other features both nights
The 6:30 p.m. pre-concert activities both nights include Patrick Watterson on the keyboard and poetry — on Wednesday by Mary Allen, the 2010 LaPorte County Poet Laureate, and on Thursday by Dr. Scott Simerlein. Dee DeVincent’s watercolors will be on display both nights.
