A New Carlisle man has now been formally charged with public indecency, a Class A misdemeanor, for allegedly disrobing Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, in LaPorte’s Soldiers Memorial Park. Patrick Timmins, 58, surrendered himself on a warrant Aug. 21, LaPorte Police reported.

Timmins allegedly stripped naked and exposed himself to another man in the park. The two chatted at the Grangemouth walking bridge and then Timmins crossed the bridge, yelled “Look over here!” and was standing naked across the channel, the victim told police. The victim said as he was calling police, Timmins quickly redressed and drove off in a green Ford Aerostar van.

The victim then saw the van in the park’s main lot and eventually followed it onto Weller Avenue. The victim returned to the park to meet the police and while officers were questioning him, Timmins drove by, was stopped by police and identified.

The LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the police report, then formally filed the charge.
