Ian Paul Edward Garrison, 34, of LaPorte, died Aug. 29, 2013, at his home.
He was born in LaPorte on Oct. 27, 1978, to David Paul Garrison and Debra Jo Ellyn (Parson) Birkholz.
Ian was very active in the VFW and American Legion. He was a member of dart and pool leagues; loved NASCAR, Notre Dame, the Bears and the Cubs, and he loved music.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Debra (Mike) Birkholz of LaPorte; sisters and brothers, Kinlynn (Troy) Gill of Valparaiso, IN, Todd Birkholz of Texas, Beth (Bill) McCoy of LaPorte, Brooke Stines of Indianapolis, Master Sgt. Travis Garrison stationed in Hawaii, Shannon Garrison of LaPorte, and Brittany Garrison of LaPorte; his stepmother, Maureen Garrison of LaPorte; grandparents, Hank Birkholz and Robert and Janice Parson; six nieces and nephews; and special friends, Owen Christner and Ania Ksiezyc.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Paul Garrison, and grandparents, Margaret and William Latimer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Rev. David Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. until the service.
