New Prairie Middle School 8th graders (from left) Tyler Miller, Riley Moody and Kodie Johnson did a “Prom Parking Lot Blitz” on Friday, April 26. Members of the Lead and Seed Drug Prevention Group sponsored by LaPorte County Drug Free Partnership, the students placed prom-related drug and alcohol facts on papers decorated with masks to go along with the New Prairie High School Prom theme. The prom was held the next day. The students put one on each high school student vehicle in the parking lot. The hope was to reach teens that may be faced with peer pressure to drink or use drugs during the prom or upcoming graduation season. Statistics have shown this to be the most dangerous time for alcohol- and drug-related teen accidents.
