Aug. 29, 1919 — A Cook County woman was sentenced to six months in the house of correction. Testimony said she led an immoral life since she was 6, had seven illegitimate children, and committed bigotry.

Aug. 29, 1969 — A library and food services building will be added at Westville’s Purdue North Central campus within the next two years.

Aug. 29, 1994 — The Door Prairie Museum at 2405 Indiana Ave. opens on Thursday. In it is a display of Dr. Peter Kesling’s 50-60 vintage cars.

Aug. 29, 2009 — A restroom at Creek Ridge County Park was set on fire by a vandal or vandals.
