An original photo of Abram Andrew, a Civil War soldier from LaPorte.
The historical society’s 2014 calendar is titled “150 Years of the Civil War in LaPorte County” and contains not only historic photos from the society’s archives, but photos from the society’s six years of Civil War re-enactments.
Each month represents a different aspect of the War Between the States, such as battles, camp life, fashion, and the Civil War Ball. The re-enactment photos are some of the best taken over the past six years. Photographers include Jim Plenus, Fern Eddy Schultz, Dennis Proud, and Susie Richter.
These will make wonderful Christmas presents for the history buff in the family or anyone who loves the history of LaPorte County! The cost is still only $10 each.
The gift shop also features items with images of the LaPorte County Courthouse or the Door Prairie Barn, and more.
The museum, open from 10-4:30 Tuesday through Saturday, is located at 2405 Indiana Ave. in LaPorte. Calendars may be reserved by calling 219.324.6767 and leaving a name, quantity, phone number or email address.
