Town and Country Extension Homemakers and one guest, Karen Pahl, met Nov. 14, 2013, at the home of Shirley Reinfurth.

Pres. Betty Thomas led the Pledge of Allegiance and Homemakers Creed. Roll call was answered by telling Thanksgiving traditions. Sandra Provan read the minutes of the October meeting, which were approved. Reinfurth gave the unchanged treasurer’s report. Members donated quarters to the Cancer Fund and personal items for the homeless shelters.

Old Business: The club is in charge of the Holiday Council meeting Monday, Dec. 2, at the Falcons Nest. Six members will attend and paid the $12 cost. They will be there at 8 a.m. to set up. Wrapped White Elephant items are needed. Thomas and Provan will meet with Wills Township Nov. 19 at the Extension Office to finalize plans. The club’s holiday party will be Dec. 12 at Portofino. The auction will be postponed until summer.

New Business: Suggestions are needed for next year’s programs. Delores Henoch attended the lesson retreat and gave information about gluten-free diets and tai chi.

Joanna Doskocil will attend the program planning meeting at the extension office Feb. 12, 2014. She said the LaPorte County Home would like to have bingo and someone to read to residents. Shirley Griffin said the homeless shelters need warm clothes and personal items; members will bring them to the January meeting.

Thomas suggested sending cards to members on birthdays, distributed a list of birthdays, and said a member in a nursing home would appreciate cards.

Members then assembled table favors for the holiday council meeting.
