A photo from “A Christmas Story” shows Mrs. Parker, Randy’s mom, preparing yet another meatloaf dinner.

“Show Mommy how the piggies eat,” said Mrs. Parker, coaxing Ralphie to eat his supper. That scene from “A Christmas Story” will be recreated at the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum as its holiday events based on the classic movie continue.

This Saturday, Dec. 21, the historical society will host “Mrs. Parker’s Piggy Lunch” in the meeting room of the museum. In the film (which is based in northwest Indiana), Ralphie remembers every meal in the Parker house to have been meatloaf, mashed potatoes and red cabbage. Creative Catering from Westville will be recreating this meal along with a tossed salad and dessert, plus a few surprises!

There will be two seatings, at noon and again at 2 p.m. Reservations are a must! Please call 219.324.6767 to reserve your seats. Cost for the luncheon is $15 each, which includes museum admission.

Come and be a part of this popular holiday movie! See how well you know Ralphie and his family by taking part in a trivia contest during the luncheon. Prizes will be given.

And while at the museum, have your photo taken in a pink bunny suit and visit Higbee’s Department Store on Main Street!

The LaPorte County Historical Society Museum, 2405 Indiana Ave., LaPorte, is open Tuesday–Saturday, 10-4:30. For more information, call 219-324-6767 and visit www.laportecountyhistory.org. The facility is accessible to those with disabilities.
