Mr. Gerald N. Ainsworth, 70, of LaPorte, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Nov. 12, 1943, in LaPorte to Edward and Phyllis (Unger) Ainsworth.
Gerald worked for Rieth-Riley Construction Co., retiring in 2006, and then continued to work for Advanced Excavating. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and Falcons. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching football, especially the Chicago Bears. Gerald also enjoyed snowmobiling and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
On Feb. 16, 1985, in LaPorte, he married Katheryn (McCorkel) Ainsworth, who survives.
He is also survived by his son, Corey (Tina) Ainsworth of Cullman, AL; daughter, Karrie Ann (Scott) Clark of Goshen, IN; stepson, Thomas Deiotte of Wheatfield, IN; three stepdaughters, Robin (Joe) Fiorito of LaPorte, Celine Hicks of LaPorte and Tress (Milo) Bellis of Rolling Prairie, IN; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Shaw and stepson Matthew Deiotte.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Thursday, Dec. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald A. Brauer officiating. Interment will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.
