The Episcopal Church Women will host their 123rd annual Epiphany Tea on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 708 Harrison St., LaPorte. The traditional tea began in 1892. The public is invited; there is no charge.
Dr. Kate Steiner will provide a musical program. The Episcopal Church Women will serve tea, finger sandwiches and the Epiphany cake. This year Jean Burns is preparing it from a closely guarded and time-honored recipe. Trinkets are hidden in the cake and a poem explains the meaning of each.
The Twelve Days of Christmas end Jan. 6; then begins the Season of Epiphany, which commemorates the visit of the Three Kings to the Baby Jesus.
