Jan. 10, 1914 – Millions of bushels of corn are being received in the U.S. from South America as a result of the removal of the duty on the staple under the recent tariff act.

Jan. 10, 1964 – Heavy fighting breaks out again between Panamanian mobs and U.S. Army troops at the border separating the Canal Zone from Panama City.

Jan. 10, 1989 – Michigan City School Corporation Superintendent Clyde Zeek was fired.

Jan. 10, 2004 – LaPorte Hospital has hired a 10-person surgery team for the heart center that is expected to open Aug. 1.
