Vice President Doug Buell welcomed back two members who had not attended for a while. Ralph E. Howes led “God Bless America,” the Pledge of Allegiance and Lions songs. Dave Ebert offered prayer. Paul Marsh introduced Josh Kellems, who talked about the American Cancer Society’s local programs, especially Road to Recovery, which is in need of volunteer drivers.
Committee reports: Dwight Graham asked members to publicize the Lions golf tournament June 7 at Beechwood Golf Course. Ebert said he will schedule Candy Days in June and check on the float for the 4th of July Parade. Tom Ruda said St. John’s Elementary and the Seventh-Day Adventist schools will be included in the third-grade dictionary program.
Ruda read the slate of officers nominated for 2013-14 for the second time: president, Buell; 1st vice president, Rita Mrozinski; secretary, Sandra Provan; treasurer, John Spiggle; two-year director, Ruda (Russ Klosinski will serve the second year of his two-year term); one-year director, Dom Liberatore; nominated from the floor for one-year terms, Marsh and Brook Schnable; tailtwisters, Ken Schnable and John McGing; lion tamers, George Royster and Jim Day; Lions Alert member, Bill Burkhart; newsletter editor, Ken Schnable; and past president, Oscar Ryl-Kuchar.
Ken Schnable said he will schedule White Cane Days in August. Ruda said the club will assist Maple City Lions with the Salvation Army Bloodmobile June 8.
The board will meet May 13 at Western Inn.
