Feb. 3, 1914 – John Klassen’s body was found frozen in Stone Lake. Before leaving home he remarked, “If I do not get work today, I am going out where my boy is.” His son drowned in Stone Lake last summer.

Feb. 3, 1964 – 50 percent of New York City’s black and Puerto Rican public school students stayed home today in a protest against racial segregation in the nation’s largest school system.
