Angeline Maroney, 1928-2014

Angeline Maroney 001Angeline Maroney, 85, of New Buffalo, MI, died peacefully at 10:31 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in her home.

She was born March 3, 1928, in Chicago to Charles and Geraldine (Geraci) Belletire.

Angeline and her late husband, James, purchased Redamak’s in New Buffalo in 1975 and operated the business for 38 years. Angie was the driving force in the purchase of Redamak’s. She was known as “Da Boss” and handled many facets, including bookkeeping, payroll, human resources and especially management. She loved sports and was athletic. Angie had a passion for golf and was a member of the Michigan City Municipal Ladies Golf League. She was also a member of the New Buffalo Yacht Club and Bridge Club. She also worked in real estate and as a secretary and food server. Angie loved the beach and enjoyed swimming and boating. She was a mother, businesswoman and caregiver to her mother. Angie enjoyed caring for her home, being surrounded by the men in her family and caring for her mother and mother-in-law.

On Sept. 16, 1950, in Chicago, she married James Patrick Maroney, who preceded her in death Aug. 27, 2013.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; stepfather, Chris Christos; and stepmother, Sadie Belletire.

Surviving are two sons, James L. Maroney of New Buffalo and Charles B. (Linda) Maroney of LaPorte; two stepbrothers, Chuck and Marshall Belletire of San Diego, CA; and four grandchildren, Charles Patrick Maroney, Katherine Marie Maroney, Nicole Angeline Maroney and Gianna Louise Maroney.

A funeral celebrating her life will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 7, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Rev. Keith McClellan officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Lake School, 704 W. Merchant St., New Buffalo, MI 49117; and to Notre Dame Catholic School, 1010 Moore Rd., Michigan City, IN 46360, in memory of Angeline Maroney.
