Jerry L. Sullivan, 71, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 9:06 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Sept. 3, 1942, in Holcomb, MO, to Noah J. and Martha (Cooper) Sullivan.
Jerry worked as a senior assembler at Sullair Corporation, Michigan City, IN, retiring after 28 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and NASCAR, especially Bobby Labonte. Jerry loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his companion, Bert Clouse of LaPorte; one son, Galen (Leah) Sullivan of Carver, MA; three daughters, Quinn (Dan) West, Gerry (Darren) Bush and Ada Sullivan, all of Michigan City; one brother, Ralph (Janette) Sullivan of Cookeville, TN; five sisters, Melba Bettuo of Westville, IN, Doris (Bill) Hall of LaPorte, Linda Johnson of LaPorte, Paula Sullivan of Kentucky and Jo (Virgil) Metcalf of LaPorte; sister-in-law, Lene Sullivan of Royston, GA; eight grandchildren, Bryan, Aaron, Cori, Kali, Tia, Noah, Evan, and Amber; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Daryl Sullivan; two brothers, Jack and John L. Sullivan; one sister, Patty; and one grandson, Michael Schwarz.
A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Pastor Lorne Hodum officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, MI, at a later date.
