Cripple Creek will give a concert Sunday afternoon, March 9, at Door Village United Methodist Church as a benefit to help the LaPorte Salvation Army. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. and all are invited. A $5 dollar donation at the door will be collected to help fund general expenses and supplement the food pantry purchases.

Refreshments will be served after the concert, which will help to make up for the shortfall in the 2013 Christmas Kettle drive.

The Salvation Army thanks Cripple Creek, the LaPorte community and Door Village UMC and Pastor Billy Nickrand for their support.

Cripple Creek enjoys singing country and gospel music and occasionally wanders into old time rock and roll. All of its members live in the Door Village area. Practices are held on Mitch’s front porch in front of an audience of dairy heifers. Each member is active in church music at Door Village UMC, where Mitch is the music director. David’s musical background is piano and vocal music and Lou’s is guitar and vocals. Both David and Lou are alumni of the Purdue Glee Club. Mitch’s musical background includes piano, tuba, bass guitar and vocals. John plays the trumpet with time spent in the Purdue and Notre Dame jazz bands. Steve participated in community choruses including Valparaiso University Choir, and church choirs.
