Marlene Joyce Adams, 67, of LaPorte, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
She was born Sept. 16, 1946, in LaPorte to Earl and Sylvia (Rosenbaum) Guernsey.
Marlene was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught fourth grade at Lincoln and third grade at Stillwell. Marlene’s life was largely dedicated to teaching children and to her family. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren.
On June 8, 1974, in LaPorte she married John Adams, who survives.
Also surviving are her beloved sons, J.R. (Laura) Shrader of South Bend, IN, and Michael (Whitney) Adams of Fishers, IN; three grandsons, Joseph Shrader, Isaac Shrader and Graham Adams; and her brother, Edward (Judy) Guernsey of Valparaiso, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, LaPorte, with Dr. Joseph Loftis officiating. Visitation will be at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, on Wednesday, April 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service.
