Welcome autumn in a festive way this Saturday, Sept. 20, at downtown LaPorte’s 16th Sunflower Fair. Run for a good cause — the LaPorte County Red Cross. Sample a variety of food and drink, including rib cook-off delectables. Treat your kids to carnival rides. View arts and crafts and classic cars. Listen to musical performers. All this and more will be featured at this fun annual event.
The Sunflower Fair will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. mainly along several blocks of historic Michigan Avenue, from Lincolnway southward. The event will feature more than 100 craft and nonprofit vendors, food, entertainment, a book sale, rides and more.
Traffic restrictions
Motorists should take note that Michigan Avenue from Lincolnway south to Osborn Street will be closed, as well as Jefferson Avenue from Indiana Avenue to Monroe Street, Maple Avenue from Madison Street to Indiana Avenue, Harrison Street from Indiana Avenue to Monroe Street, and Noble Street from Michigan Avenue to Monroe Street. Parking will also not be allowed on these streets between 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, and 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. Signs will be posted and violators are subject to being ticketed and towed.
