Rotary of LaPorte is excited to help bring Thaddeus Rex and his award-winning “Read Like A Rock Star” program to LaPorte.
The program is designed to show 3rd graders the power of reading in a fun way. With songs inspired by “Alice in Wonderland,” “Captain Underpants,” “Green Eggs and Ham” and more, kids experience the connection between reading habits and rock-star writing, and experience the energy of a real rock concert. Performer Thaddeus Rex gets to live his dream, rocking out onstage every day while inspiring kids.
Rex will speak and perform at the LaPorte Rotary meeting on Monday, Sept. 29, at 11:45 a.m. Then on Tuesday, Sept. 30, he’ll present the “Read like a Rock Star” program to all the 3rd graders in LaPorte at 9:30 a.m. at the LaPorte High School Auditorium. That evening at 6 p.m., he’ll present a Parent and Child Concert at the LaPorte County Public Library. He will also perform at Prairie View Elementary School on Oct. 1.
Along with Rotary, here are other “Read like a Rock Star” co-sponsors and partners so far: LaPorte Community Schools, READ LaPorte County, Youth Service Bureau, LaPorte County Public Library, Milo Enterprises, Kingsbury Elevator Inc, Liberty Bible Church, First United Methodist Church of LaPorte, Bethany Lutheran Church, American Licorice, Parkison & Hinton, Kiwanis Club of LaPorte, Maslow’s Coffee Shop, Friends of the Library, Best Western Plus, The Foundation IU Health, LaPorte Jaycees, Leigh Morris, and Little Caesar Pizza.
