Oct. 2, 1914 – Thousands will invade LaPorte for a three-day circus. The interurban lines will cooperate in bringing people in to witness the thrilling events.

Oct. 2, 1964 – Gulf Coast residents flee Hurricane Hilda.

Oct. 2, 1989 – East Germany suspends a policy that allowed its citizens to travel without a visa to Czechoslovakia.

Oct. 2, 2004 – $10.2 million in capital projects in Michigan City are slated for completion next year.
