Fall is here, but that doesn’t mean fun is over. The 2014 Westville Pumpkin Fest will take place Friday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Oct. 5, at Prairie Meadow Park, located at the intersection of U.S. 421 and U.S. 6. Read on for planned events:
– Friday, Oct. 3: Teen dance and crowning of Pumpkin Fest royalty, starting at 6 p.m.
– Saturday, Oct. 4:
8 a.m., 5k walk/run (sign up at Westville School starting at 7 a.m.; call Jane at 875-4147 for more information)
10 a.m., Pumpkin Fest Parade
11 a.m., classic car show
11 a.m., corn hole toss
Noon, Lions Club bingo; Pie Eating Contest; Taekwondo show
1 p.m., Kids Fun Run
1:30 p.m., pumpkin decorating contest
2 p.m., Hula Hoop contest
3 p.m., jump rope contest
3:30 p.m., Tri Kappa pumpkin bake-off, open to amateur bakers of any age. All recipes must contain pumpkin as a main ingredient. Submit as many entries as you wish. There is no entry fee. Categories: 1) pies and cheesecakes; 2) frosted bars, cakes, etc.; 3) breads and muffins; 4) cookies and miscellaneous. 5 p.m., Texas Hold’em poker tournament at American Legion; performance by the band Night Shift
– Sunday, Oct. 5
7 a.m., pancake breakfast
8:30 a.m., 3-on-3 basketball tourney at Westville School. Registration begins at 7:15 a.m.
10 a.m., tractor pull
Noon, bingo; corn hole tournament
2 p.m., Hula Hoop contest
3 p.m., jump rope contest
– All weekend: Food vendors, arts and crafts booths, Westville Tri-Kappa baked pumpkin goods sale
