Clean your home without harming the environment by participating in the LaPorte County Solid Waste District’s Household Hazardous Waste collection from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the west parking lot of Marquette Mall near Kabelin Ace Hardware in Michigan City.
What you can bring to this collection:
- Batteries
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs
- Mercury and fluorescent tubes
- Thermostats
- Expired medications (non-controlled substances)
- Sharps
- Household cleaners, disinfectants and polishes
- ALL chemicals
- Aerosol cans
- Oil-based paint and paint thinner
- Antifreeze
- Vehicle fluids (oil, diesel, brake etc.)
- Moth balls
- Pesticides, insecticides, fungicides and herbicides
- Weed killer
- Lighter fluid
- Nail polish and remover
- Ammunition
What NOT to bring:
- Explosives
- Propane or other compressed gas cylinders
- Commercial hazardous waste
- Latex paint
- Medical waste other than medicines and sharps
- Radioactive material (including smoke alarms)
