Charles Kime, 1930-2015

20150107-140645_CharlesKime001Mr. Charles E. Kime, 84, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at his home.

He was born March 9, 1930, in Skidmore, MO, to Earl and Edith (Spangler) Kime.

Charles worked as a machinist for 29 years for Joy Manufacturing in Michigan City, IN, retiring in 1988. He was a member of LaPorte Presbyterian Church. Charles was an inventor. He built furniture, enjoyed painting and could fix anything. Charles was a supporter of small businesses. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.

On Oct. 12, 1957, in LaPorte, he married Dolores (Baity) Kime, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Robert (Vanessa) Kime of Wawaka, IN; daughter, Suzanne (Billy) Kime-Ball of LaPorte; and six grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Barcus of Kendallville, IN, Steven (Courtney) Kime of Ligonier, IN, Eric Kime of LaPorte, Tanya (John) Rogers of LaPorte, Barbara Ball-Evans of LaPorte, and Sandra Ball of West Palm Beach, FL.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lester Kime.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 11, from 1 to 2 p.m. A life celebration will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Sally Wicks officiating. Interment will follow at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte.
