Art comes in many forms. In downtown LaPorte, art is coming in the form of ice sculptures to help launch WinterFest, the LaPorte Park and Recreation Department’s days of winter activities. From 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, come downtown and watch the sculptures take shape as their artists let the chips fly.

The ice sculpture demonstrations will take place on the sidewalks of downtown LaPorte in front of shops on Lincolnway and State and Clay streets. Shops hosting ice sculptures include We-Pay-More, LaPorte Savings Bank, Kessler’s Lofts, Fenker’s Furniture, Magic Sports, Etropal, Suds on State, Mucho Mas, and the Co-Op Shoppes.

The sculptures and artisans are sponsored by local businesses including NIPSCO, Qubit Networks, Suds on State, Fenker’s Furniture, Allstate Insurance, Anytime Fitness, Meridian Title, LaPorte County Life, Packaging Logic, and the LaPorte Urban Enterprise Association.
