LaPorte Lions met April 20, 2015, at Best Western Hotel. Paul Marsh asked Ralph E. Howes to lead “God Bless America” and the Pledge of Allegiance and Sandra Provan offered prayer.
Tom Ruda introduced James Wszolek, speech and debate advisor at LaPorte High School, and student Chandler Watson, who gave an interpretive speech.
Provan read the minutes of the April 13 board meeting and read a thank-you note from Riley Elementary School for the club’s $250 donation to the library.
The nominating committee’s slate of officers for 2015-16 was read for the first time. Proposed officers are: president, Ken Schnable; 1st vice president, Paul Marsh; 2nd vice president, Oscar Ryl-Kuchar; treasurer, John Spiggle; 2-year director, Tom Ruda; Lion tamer, George Royster; tail twister, Doug Buell.
Several members were to go to the Maple City Lions meeting April 22.
The next meeting will be May 4.
