The Slicer JV baseball team finished the first half of its Duneland Conference schedule with a 4-3 record after suffering a 6-1 loss to Crown Point at Clarke Park on Thursday, April 30, 2015. It was the Slicers’ third straight loss and left them with a record of 12-4 overall.

Andy Samuelson took the loss as he pitched well the first 3 innings, allowing only 1 baserunner, but then ran into problems in the next 2 innings, allowing 2 runs in both the 4th and 5th. He struck out 7, walked 3 and hit 3 batters, allowing only 2 hits while giving up the 4 runs. Mark Haines and Hunter Stemmler pitched the final 2 innings, giving up another 2 runs.

The Slicers could muster only 4 hits on the evening with Austin Botsford, Will Malekovic, Drake Vergin and Jacob Young each singling in the loss as the team’s offense sputtered throughout the game. Botsford scored the only Slicer run on a wild pitch.

The next JV game is Friday, May 1, starting at 5:45 at Elkhart Central. This game was just scheduled this week as it was originally an open date.
