Barbara Louise (Heusi) Hoos, 85, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 5 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, in her home with her children by her side.
She was born Sept. 18, 1927, in LaPorte to George and Verlie (Steger) Heusi. She was the second of six children.
Barbara worked at Plimpton Press in LaPorte for 26 years until its closing and moved on to Whirlpool, where she retired after 16 years of service. Halloween was a special time of year for her and she always made Trick or Treat night special for all the children in the area. Barbara enjoyed gardening and cooking. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Janice (Tim) Barkmann, Kathy Galloway and Judy Reczuch; sons, John (Deb) Hoos and James Hoos; sisters, Colleen Schroeder, Georgene (Neal) Doty and Susan (Bob) Krueger; sister-in-law, Bobbie Heusi; grandchildren, Sandi (Greg) Hux, Johnnie (Debbie) Hoos, Kelly (Todd) Bates, Michelle (Luke Warner) Hoos, Jeremy Reczuch, Jennifer (Brett) Nunley, and Jason Galloway; and seven great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy, Kasey, Josey, Bryce, Ava-Rayne, Anabella, Alyssa and Fiona.
Preceding in death were her parents; one son, Ben Hoos; son-in-law, Mark Galloway; one sister, Joyce Draves; one brother, Frank Heusi; one brother-in-law, Fred Schroeder; and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Rose Hux.
A private graveside service will be held at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
