John Eric King Sr., 55, of Hudson Lake, IN, and formerly of Kingsford Heights, IN, died peacefully at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Feb. 12, 1961, in LaPorte to Truman Sr. and Ada (Hoops) King.
John enjoyed playing softball for the Kingsford Heights Softball League and the LaPorte Recreation Department Softball League. He was a former member of Hoosiers Boys Club as a child. John enjoyed music and watching old movies and shows, including “The Andy Griffith Show,” “The Lone Ranger” and “The Three Stooges.” He loved his pet cat, Zeppelin, naming him after one of his favorite bands, Led Zeppelin. John never progressed in the times; he stayed in the past, loving classic rock.
Surviving are his son, John E. King Jr. of LaPorte; sister, Vickie (Dan Buck) Murray of Hudson Lake; brothers, Truman King Jr. and Thomas (Lisa) King, both of LaPorte; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; nephew, Daniel Murray; niece, Kyleigh King; and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. until the service.
