The LaPorte Kmart has operated since the mid-1970s, originally serving as an anchor for Maple Lane Mall. In its 4 decades it has outlasted numerous other prominent mall occupants including Levine’s, Majerek’s Hallmark and, most recently, Al’s West Supermarket.
