Want to find out what local police have to deal with on a given Saturday evening? Find out Aug. 3 as the LaPorte Police Department offers a virtual ride-along to the public from 1:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
“We will offer community members the chance to log on to our Facebook page and follow along as an officer details the events of an entire Saturday night patrol shift,” the department announced in a press release. “Citizens will get a closer look as to what we do, the calls we answer, the situations we deal with, and have the unique opportunity to ‘ride along’ for an entire evening from the safety of their home computer.
“We will be answering questions as they come in throughout the night, so please feel free to ask and participate in our first ever Virtual Ride-Along. This is being done to better inform our community of what their police department is doing each and every night and to continue our mission to improve community relations.”
