On Thursday evening, Aug. 8, 2013, thirteen automobiles driven and owned by members of the Michiana Antique Auto Club visited the Ruth Sabin Home in LaPorte.
The cars included a 1937 Cord owned by Tom and Cindy Stockwell, a 1948 Mercury Fordor owned by Fred and Pat Sachteben, a 1980 Shay replica of a 1929 Model A owned by Mary Schlunz, a 1956 Lincoln Premier owned by Sam and Jeanne Benjamin, a 1956 Mercury owned by Greg Drufke, a 1961 Cadillac limo owned by Bill and Mary Hedge, a 1969 El Camino owned by Dale and Beverly Lake, a 1966 Ford Thunderbird owned by Jim Blint, a 1966 Corvair owned by Tom and Karen Barnhart, a 1968 Javelin SST owned by Virginia Lancaster, a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible owned by Steve and Pat Tukos, a 1974 Cadillac El Dorado convertible owned by Bill and Mary Hedge, and a 1988 Camaro Sport Coupe convertible owned by Roger and Jerraly Stark.
Several Ruth Sabin residents enjoyed rides in the vintage autos, and auto club members enjoyed tours of the stately retirement home. Good conversation and light refreshments were enjoyed by all.
