Dr. Paul Harris, 1918-2013

harris photoDr. Paul P. Harris, 94, of LaPorte, died Aug. 28, 2013, at Golden Living Center Fountainview.

He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on Nov. 11, 1918, to Frank M. and Amanda (Cole) Harris.

Paul attended Indiana University and graduated from the Indiana School of Dentistry in 1943. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps from 1943-1946. He had a dental practice in LaPorte from November of 1946 until his retirement on April 1, 1985. Paul was a member of First United Methodist Church, a former member of Kiwanis Club and LaPorte Elks, and a life member of Indiana State Dental Association and the Northwest Indiana Dental Association.

On June 14, 1941, he married Maxine (McKee) Harris, who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. Carl Harris; and sisters, Cleo Kramer and Ruth Simiandl.

Surviving are his beloved children: son, Rev. David (Kay) Harris and daughter, Paula Jean Harris.

A time of gathering with friends and family will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. A private family graveside service will take place at Door Village Cemetery following the time of visitation.
