It’s an understatement to say that Hobart Brickie Nick Bokun made a spectacular catch in Saturday night’s game, Aug. 31, 2013. There was just one problem … sandwiched between him and the ball was Slicer linebacker Drew Kessler.
“The photo shows that there is no doubt it was a catch,” said Mike Kellems, who took this series of remarkable shots.
But it was ruled otherwise.
“The official ruled defensive pass interference and they replayed the down,” Kellems said.
“Regardless of the outcome, it was a spectacular catch. All of the people I talked to at the game said they’d never seen one like it.”
Someday, Bokun and Kessler will tell their grandchildren about this play that happened on a hot August night in Hobart, Indiana.
The Brickies won the game in overtime, 27-21.
