Jan. 16, 1914 – The LaPorte County Boys and Girls Club arrived at Purdue University in a special coach attached to a Monon passenger train.
Jan. 16, 1964 – 1963 LaPorte County Fair admissions and income were less than in 1962.
Jan. 16, 1989 – The U.S. Supreme Court rules that Americans are free to use their home video recorders to videotape television programs.
Jan. 16, 2004 – Robert Behler announces his intent to seek the Democratic nomination for LaPorte County clerk. He is currently finishing his first term as county treasurer.
