IU Health LaPorte Hospital’s mobile health clinic will be offering free cervical and breast cancer screenings on Aug. 17, and free hearing screenings for all ages Aug. 21.
The mobile health unit has two private exam rooms.
Cervical and breast cancer screenings
These screenings are for women ages 20-65 who have not received a pap test in one or more years, have not had a hysterectomy, and have not been diagnosed with cervical or breast cancer. They will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 17 in LaPorte. Pre-registration is required by calling 219-325-7648.
Hearing screenings
These screenings are for people ages 5 and older who would like to identify if they have hearing loss. They will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 21 in LaPorte.
The screening involves listening to a series of tones and sounds through comfortable headphones and responding to the sounds when prompted. Screening takes about five minutes, and information will be available to those who need follow-up for a potential hearing problem.
