Aug. 28, 1914 – The Germans press on to Paris as the Russians advance in their campaign on Berlin.
Aug. 28, 1964 – The county GOP selects Mrs. Jean C. Hilgendorf for the auditor’s race, Arthur A. Keppen as the circuit court judge candidate, and Earl L. Alexander to re-seek the county surveyor position.
Aug. 28, 1989 – Fluorescent footballs developed by LaPorte’s own Charles Finley are slated for use Friday night at Kiwanis Field.
